Jakpro Targets August 2026 for LRT Jakarta Velodrome-Manggarai Launch

PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), the city’s provincial developer, has set an August 2026 target for the official launch of the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B extension, which will link Velodrome to the Manggarai transportation hub.

We'll initiate the commissioning phase

Operational preparations are currently in full swing, including rigorous system testing and safety trials to ensure the line is ready for public service.

PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) President Director, Iwan Takwin said, Jakpro is set to initiate the commissioning test phase, a critical milestone in the project’s final evaluation sequence before going live.

Breaking the Fast on Jakarta LRT? Here is How

He emphasized that the process is designed to verify that the entire LRT infrastructure and its integrated systems are operating seamlessly before the line begins serving commuters.

In tandem with these technical preparations, Jakpro is finalizing the necessary documentation and regulatory requirements to secure an operating license from the Ministry of Transportation.

"Our aim is for LRT Jakarta Phase 1B to officially enter service by August, in line with our project timeline. Following the completion of current trials, we'll initiate the commissioning phase while concurrently wrapping up the operational permitting process for submission to the Ministry of Transportation," he expressed, Wednesday (3/11).

Beyond the immediate push to complete Phase 1B, Jakpro is also mapping out the future expansion of LRT Jakarta network. The development plans are being shaped by comprehensive feasibility studies aimed at bolstering the efficiency and reach of the city’s public transportation system.

The roadmap for the LRT’s expansion is being designed around evolving mobility demands and the necessity for intermodal synergy.

By leveraging data from current feasibility studies, Jakpro will identify high-priority extensions aimed at maximizing ridership and solidifying the LRT’s role within Jakarta’s broader transit ecosystem.

“While moving forward with Phase 1B, Jakpro is concurrently formulating a long-term roadmap for the LRT Jakarta. The strategy is grounded in service quality and intermodal synergy, designed to provide Jakartans with a highly efficient and well-integrated transit ecosystem," he explained.

Notably, the 6.4-kilometer Phase 1B extension serves as a strategic link in the capital’s transit network, bridging Velodrome and Manggarai. The project adds five key stops—Rawamangun, Pramuka BPKP, Pasar Pramuka, Matraman, and Manggarai—to the LRT’s footprint. Crucially, the Manggarai terminus will function as a multi-modal hub, connecting riders to the city’s commuter rail and bus rapid transit systems.

LRT Jakarta’s Phase 1B development continues the expansion of a network that has been operational between Pegangsaan Dua and Velodrome since its 2019 debut.

"This expansion is expected to bolster Jakarta's public transportation network and foster more efficient urban mobility for the city’s residents once operational," he noted.
